New footage has emerged of an American civil engineer who has been held by the Taliban for two years, with Mark Frerichs begging to be allowed to go home.
Frerichs, 59, a civil engineer and contractor from Lombard, Illinois, was kidnapped in January 2020 from the Afghan capital, Kabul.
He is believed to be in the custody of the Taliban-linked Haqqani network.
On Friday, The New Yorker published a video of Frerichs which they said was recorded in November.
‘I’ve been patiently waiting for my release,’ Frerichs says, apparently reading from a script held in front of him.
