Marin residents trek for Ukraine war relief efforts

While some Marin residents are organizing relief efforts for millions of Ukrainians living in a war zone, others are making the journey thousands of miles to help on the ground.

Retired Wall Street attorney Rich Cerick, a certified emergency medical technician, made the trip at his own expense, departing late last month.

When the Fairfax resident retired from practicing law in 2011, he said he wanted to find other worthy pursuits. He’s since certified as a medic “for volunteer humanitarian purposes.” About five years ago he began to travel, starting out in Nepal.
