WASHINGTON, D.C. — New rules proposed by the Biden administration restricting federal funding of charter schools are drawing withering criticism from parents of charter school children.
They say the proposal would make it more difficult to open and expand the schools.
Julie Gonzague says her 11-year-old daughter, Julianie, has benefited from attending charter school. “I appreciate the education, the values, the morality, the systems and just how much they pour into my child, Julianie,” she said.
Gonzague, who lives in Rochester, N.Y., is not alone. Jessica Rodriguez of Miami says a charter school was the best choice for her 10-year-old son, Tyhler.
