Morris, Red Raiders shine at MVC meet

CHELMSFORD — Throughout the entire dual meet season, Aaron Morris didn’t compete in the long jump due to issues with one of his hamstrings.

On Saturday morning, in his just his third overall meet of the season, the Lowell High senior showed no ill effects of that injury as he captured the event with a mark of 21-04 to lead Lowell to a second-place finish in the Merrimack Valley Conference Track and Field championship meet at the McCarthy Middle School.

“(My progression) was slow at first and I was trying to get 22 feet (and it didn’t happen), but I think that’s coming soon,” said the star football player who is headed to Phillips Exeter for a year. “This is just my third meet this season as I had a hamstring injury. (The injury) started during the indoor season and (has carried over).”
