(CNN) A 48-year-old man has died after being shot in the chest inside a train on the New York City subway on Sunday morning, the New York City Police Department told CNN.
The victim was seated in the last car of a Manhattan-bound “Q” line train, NYPD Chief of Department Kenneth Corey said at a press conference Sunday afternoon.
Officers responded to a report of a person shot at the Canal Street station in Lower Manhattan at approximately 11:42 a.m. and upon arrival, found the 48-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his torso. First responders rendered aid and transported him to Bellevue Hospital, where he died of his injuries, Corey said. The victim has not yet been identified.
