Man charged in connection with April fatal shooting on Indy’s south side

A 23-year-old man has been charged in connection with a fatal shooting on Indianapolis’ south side from April, according to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department.

Officers responded to the 8800 block of St. Peter Street on April 25 on a report of a person shot and found Ngun Peng, 18, with gunshot wounds. Peng died later that evening at a hospital, police said.

Detectives identified Roberto Melendrez-Moran as a potential suspect in the shooting after multiple witnesses provided information. Investigators found evidence that Melendrez-Moran was dealing narcotics, according to IMPD.
