State counters claims from Park Falls, explains utility bill hike

MADISON, Wis. (WAOW) – The Wisconsin Public Service Commission (PSC), the body in charge of determining how much utility companies can charge their customers, directly contradicted statements made by Park Falls’ Mayor on Thursday.

When news first broke about a planned utility bill increase, Mayor Michael Bablick claimed they had to work to lower the proposal to around 75%, down from 98% allegedly proposed by the PSC.

However, a spokesman for the PSC says that isn’t true – and that it was Park Fall’s City Utility that submitted a request to nearly double the rates.
