Middle of area boys soccer rankings shift; Dominican, Waukesha South forward receive weekly honors

After a few matchups of our top 10 teams last week, there was some shuffling in the middle of our list. Here are our rankings entering the week, with considerations for strength of schedule, recent historical performances and current record.

1. Whitefish Bay (10-0-2) 1

5. Brookfield East (6-1) 4

6. Waukesha West (7-2) 5

7. Kenosha Tremper (10-1) 7

8. Sussex Hamilton (6-1-3) 8

Senior forward De Nova built upon a hat trick to close out the previous week with four more goals across three wins for the Blackshirts. He scored a goal and tallied an assist in a 3-1 win over Oconomowoc, added a goal in a 5-0 win over Menomonee Falls and had two more to put away a 4-0 win over Lake Country Lutheran. He has scored at least one goal in nine games this season and is the Blackshirts’ second-leading scorer in goals and total points behindonly Diego Montez for the season. Waukesha South is 10-1-1, as well as 4-1 in the Classic 8 Conference to enter the week second to Arrowhead.

The Knights debuted their brand-new playing surface, Palermo’s Field, in style with a 3-1 win over The Prairie School on Wednesday. The win featured a hat trick from Jaime Flores, seven saves from Wilson von Bohlen and two assists from Sebastian von Bohlen. Previous player of the week winner Harris Burgos added an assist. Dominican tied Brookfield Academy 1-1, Friday. The Knights are 4-4-1, including 3-0 mark in the Metro Classic, keeping pace with St. Thomas More.
