Downtown revitalization to take center stage at open house

MALONE — The village, working with the Franklin County Economic Development Corp., will be holding an open house on Thursday, Feb. 16, to discuss downtown revitalization efforts, specifically a draft strategic plan for downtown Malone.

Next week’s open house will take place at the Franklin County Courthouse, on West Main Street, in the building’s first floor conference room, and will run from 5 to 7 p.m., according to a prepared statement from Kelly Brunette, who works in marketing and communications at Adirondack Frontier.

Next Thursday’s open house is an opportunity for business owners, property owners, and residents in Malone to learn more about the Draft Downtown Malone Strategic Plan and provide input about the proposed priority of projects, according to Brunette.

The Downtown Strategic Plan is an effort to execute projects that will achieve Malone’s downtown revitalization goals, according to the news release, which states the upcoming meeting is the third and final public meeting for this project.

Rachel Child, a project manager with the Franklin County Economic Development Corp., said the meeting will place an emphasis on discussion.

“There’s no presentation or anything like that, it’s just an open house, we have the projects split up at different stations,” Child said. “People will have an opportunity to review the project, ask us questions, and fill out a form with their feedback, which they can provide anonymously.”
